Privacy Notice and Notice at Collection

Draft for qualified California counsel review — not yet effective.

These drafts were prepared from the behaviour of this system and from public California sources. They are not legal advice, they have not been reviewed by a lawyer, and they cannot be made effective until a qualified reviewer approves them.

This wording governs nothing today. You are not being asked to agree to it, and no part of the service relies on it. Anything shown in square brackets is a business fact that has not been supplied yet.

Notice at collection

At or before the point where we collect anything, we tell you what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and that we do not sell or share it for behavioural advertising.

Categories we collect

Identifiers, such as name, email address and telephone number, so that we can contact you about a request.

Commercial information, such as requests, quotes and payment status, so that we can perform the work and keep accurate records.

Documents you upload for service, so that a server can attempt service.

Internet activity, limited to what the application needs to function securely.

Precise geolocation, from a process server's own device, only while an authorised assignment is active and only while their Field page is open and visible. We treat precise geolocation as sensitive personal information.

Professional information from process servers, such as registration details, so that we can verify who may take work.

Why we collect it

To perform the service you asked for, to produce an accurate record of the work, to keep the platform secure, to meet legal obligations, and to resolve disputes.

What we never do

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use precise geolocation to infer anything about a person outside the assignment it belongs to. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about anyone.

Location, specifically

Location readings come from the assigned process server's own browser, in the foreground, during an authorised assignment. Nothing is recorded when the page is hidden, the device is locked, the browser suspends the page, the device is offline, permission is withdrawn or readings stop. Those periods are recorded honestly as unverified gaps and are never filled in afterwards. Clients never see raw coordinates.

Who we disclose to

Service providers that host the platform, send email when that is switched on, and process payments when that is switched on. Each is bound to use the information only to provide that service. We may disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is needed to establish or defend a legal claim.

How long we keep it

Retention follows our published retention schedule. Records that form evidence of work performed are kept for the period stated there, and may be kept longer where a legal hold applies.

Your rights

You may ask to know what we hold, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and to object to a use. You may withdraw an agreement you previously gave. We do not discriminate against you for exercising a right. Requests are made through the privacy request page in the application and are answered within the period the law allows. We may keep records the law requires us to keep, and records subject to a legal hold, and we will tell you when that is why something was not deleted.

Verification

We verify the identity of the person making a request before we act on it, using information we already hold.

Contact
